As Lando Norris collected his McLaren Autosport BRDC Award prizes at last Sunday's Autosport Awards, Derek Warwick declared he was stood next to "a future Formula 1 world champion".
That is high praise, and high pressure - not least because the Award has a fine strike-rate in terms of producing successful professional racing drivers, but in its search for the next British F1 star, only two winners since the turn of the millennium have actually contested a grand prix.
